Communities In Schools of Federal Way was originally established in 1994 as the Education Foundation - a non-profit, education program of the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce. In 2005 the Foundation partnered with Communities In Schools to create an even stronger organization in our community to help children succeed in school. Over this period we have reached thousands of children and families through partnering with the Federal Way School District, the business community of Federal Way and local concerned community members. It is our belief that healthy, thriving communities have a responsibility to educate their citizens.
To champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life.
To enrich our community through initiatives that empower all students to achieve academic success; thus providing a foundation for them to realize their full potential, dreams and aspirations. A dynamic, purposeful new generation will flourish, bringing greater confidence, insight and imagination to the responsibilities and promise of democratic citizenship.
The beginning of school is right around the corner, and Communities In Schools of Federal Way is actively recruiting mentors for our PASS Mentoring program! Help a child in-need navigate the often difficult school years with your support and guidance.
It only takes one hour, one day a week and can truly make a difference for a child. Research shows that children who are mentored are less likely to engage in risky behaviors, such as smoking, drinking alcohol and involvement in gang activity. It can be a life-changing experience for a student and for you!
